Reviews

A fascinating look at the complexities of life-saving surgery, - GQhis beautiful prose and acute observations of people and places, and of his own character, disposition and passions, cause us to reflect on our attitudes to living and dying, and to better understand what matters to us. - Reader's DigestHis best reflections are full of searing honesty about failures - his own, and those of systems. - Adelaide AdvertiserAn honest, insightful, fascinating reports from the surgical frontline - Readingsa fine writer and storyteller, and a nuanced observer - The Guardian AustraliaIt must have been an exacting task to follow such a book, but Marsh has pulled it off with Admissions, his second memoir, which weaves reflections on his own impending mortality with further tales of surgical life. The ground it covers is, admittedly, similar to that of Do No Harm, but it's not a bit repetitive - and markedly more personal. - AFR WeekendAdmissions" is more about the man than the surgeon, but it is excellent in its own right. - Economist, GlobalAt times harrowing, sombre and thought provoking this book explores a profession that many of us are fortunate enough not to have personally experienced or thought about. - QUEENSLAND REVIEWERS COLLECTIVE BLOG
