About the Author
Written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter (1866-1943). Her passion for the natural world lay behind the creation of her famous tales. A particular source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

When I read Beatrix Potter I am surprised by the rich vocabulary. My children love them and the young ones do not find the "difficult" words off putting. We have fun sometimes trying to incorporate them into our speech: "Please exert yourself when you tidy your room!"
