There is sadness and frustration in the home as Joseph tells his family that heA[a--a[s been overlooked again for a job for which he was qualified and which heA[a--a[d been promised. His family gathers around him to give comfort and Rachel, the oldest, decides that itA[a--a[s her place to aid the family and help her father. Rachel becomes financially secure and opens up opportunities, knowing that this is her job in the family. Regardless of conflicts and struggles, they try to succeed. Others in another family live differently and the reader learns how each does his or her part to find success also. Finally, the reader sees how all receive the best they can get.
