About the Author

Zoran Music began his career with extensive travels in 1934, before settling in Venice in 1940. Music was deported to Dachau in 1943 where he frantically sketched the life in the camp under extremely difficult circumstances. After his liberation in 1945 Music returned to Venice where he won the first prize at the Bienniale in 1950. Other prizes followed in 1951 and 1952 when Music was awarded the Prix de Paris. During the 50's he moved to Paris, although keeping his studio in Venice, and exhibited again at the Biennale in 1956 and 1960 (the artist was awarded the great prize for his graphic work and the UNESCO Prize). Music's works have been honoured in numerous international exhibitions, such as the large retrospective exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1955, and belong to major museums and private art collections. Ida Barbarigo Cadorin was born in Venice in 1925 and belongs to a historical Venetian family of painters, sculptures, architects and poets. She started studying architecture but she devoted herself to painting following her father, Guido Cadorin. Her works are included in many private and public collections. Giovanna Dal Bon is a Venetian art journalist (she collaborates with Il Corriere della Sera and Il Corriere del Veneto) and curator of art books.
