About the AuthorRalph Fletcher has written many well-received books, including Spider Boy and Flying Solo. ReviewsGr 4-6-Jeff Woodman's narration of Fig Pudding by Ralph Fletcher (Clarion, 1995) will capture listeners' attention and hold it until the last hilarious scene. The story covers the past year in the life of a family of six children. Cliff, the oldest child, looks back over the year and relates some of the funny, sad, silly and mysterious happenings in a big, busy family. Listeners will follow the family through the Christmas holidays when Grandma comes to visit and bakes her famous stollen, to Easter when all the candy chicks lose their heads, and then on to the tragic death of Cliff's younger brother. The children and the parents struggle through their first Christmas after the accident and realize that life goes on and it is the happy memories that sustain them through this rough time. The sound quality is excellent, and Woodman does a nice job portraying all the different voices. This captivating and touching story will make an excellent addition to media collections.-Ginny Harrell, William McGarrah Elementary School, Morrow, GA Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
