I love this book and the way it is written. But do be aware that it is written in a different style to his usual cookbooks. Each recipe is actually a meal consisting of about 3 plates (eg main, salad and dessert) and the recipe focuses on cooking all three at once within the 30 mins. So if you wanted to cook only one of the meals, you would have to read the whole (wordy) page to work out the one recipe. But is not about just cooking the one meal... it is as he promises, about cooking good fast food. I think this book would take some time to get used to but once a couple of recipes had been tried, you would feel ready for a session on Masterchef! I love this book and it is a beautiful addition to my cookbook collection! Be brave and try it!

All Jamie Oliver recipe books are great, but this one is truely wonderful! With 2 young children at home, finding quick, easy and tasty meals to make for the whole family can be a challenge, but the ideas and planning guides in this book are fabulous! The illustrations are very helpful, and the finished dishes look like the ones in the book.

Great book, full of great ideas and recipes that would work well anywhere.
I would recommend this book for everyone, especially if you would love to save some time on the meals or if you have a great interest in cooking.
From reading this book and trying out some of the recipes firsthand I certainly do support this book and from this book I learnt new ways to make cooking much easier and faster and still have the enjoyment of cooking.
This is an excellent book, full of new ingenious creations that I am sure everyone would love.
Five stars.

another great book of recipes from the master. great tips along the way with awesome shortcuts that don't compromise the flavour or quality of the food. jamie just has a way of putting flavours together with good fresh produce and simple cooking to make the most of every dish. his books are inspirational, more-ish and addictive :)

For those who love to have luncheons/dinner parties but feel overwhelmed by choice and the time that is required to do it well, this book really is the answer. Whilst the preparation does normally take an hour rather than 30 minutes, the variety of complete menues is different and results in great flavours. All of these will impress your guests, are a little different to what one usually places on the table and are achievable. I have tried a number of the recipes and they were a delight to the tastebuds and so easy to prepare. I love his down-to-earth way of approaching cooking...absolutely no nonsense. A lovely book.

Great book and great food. Don't expect to produce the meals in 30 minutes when you first try the recipes. But who cares - the sligtly longer wait is more than worth it. The recipes are pretty much foolproof too.

I love this book! I love how you have spreadsheet style instructions for an entire meal, not just one dish. The meals are simple but tasty. My 9yo daughter cooked dinner on Sat night for 6 from Jamie's book, with my help, and it was a complete success! Everyone enjoyed it and she enjoyed cooking it. We didn't rush through the instructions and still it only took about 45mins, with interrupting toddlers and other distractions. My "meat and veg" husband was very impressed! We are going to make it a Saturday night ritual now, the kids couldn't wait to sit around and pick the next menu from the book. Talk about getting the family together around wholesome, tasty and quick to prepare food!
