The riotously funny Lilly, last seen in "Chester's Way" (Greenwillow), thinks her new baby brother, Julius, is disgusting -- if he was a number, he would be zero. But when Cousin Garland dares to criticize Julius, Lilly bullies her into loudly admiring Julius as the baby of the world.Lilly knows her baby brother is nothing but dreadful -- until she claims him for her own. "Henkes displays a deep understanding of sibling rivalry and a child's fragile self-esteem....Lilly is a superb and timely heroine." -- Publishers Weekly."
"A reassuring, funny book for all young children who suffer from new-sibling syndrome."-- "School Library Journal" (starred review)
This is a wonderful story about sibling rivalry - would be a great present for any child expecting a new addition to the family. I've read it repeatedly over the years in my classroom and my pupils have adored Lily's antics to cope with the new baby. I was so excited to finally track this book down again.
If you know anyone who's first born is having difficulty adjusting to a new baby - give them this book! Lilly is not happy about Julius' arrival in her family and she is determined to get rid of him. Lilly's antics will have you laughing out loud. But the harder Lilly tries, the sweeter her parents find him. Highly recommended.
