A native Californian and a Carlsbad transplant, Cynthia Mestad Johnson has lived and volunteered in the community for 23 years. A US history teacher and an author of historical nonfiction, Johnson feels tremendously fortunate to live on a hill overlooking Agua Hedionda Lagoon and the Pacific coastline with her husband, Bill, and their legendary dog, Poop Deck.
