Tony and Maureen Wheeler established Lonely Planet Publications in Sydney in 1973. From humble beginnings, the company has grown into an international publisher. A unique mix of autobiography, corporate history and travel book, this traces the Wheelers' personal story as well as the development of their business.
This is a great tale of travel and business rolled into one easy read. The Wheelers retain a love of seeing the world in a backpacking sense despite their multi million dollar empire. The insight into the workings of the worlds most popular travel guides both inspires and brings back down to earth many of the myths one might associate with being an 'LP' writer. Highly recommended to anyone with a liking for a page turner with a great non-fiction storyline.
