About the Author

As early Years Senior Development Officer at the National Children's Bureau, Helen has identified and collated effective practice in involving parents in their children's early learning birth to five. Helen has many years experience as a classroom teacher and she has designed and delivered many successful family learning sessions for parents in nursery schools and children's centres. Joyce Connor is the Early Years Programme Director at NCB. She has extensive experience of direct delivery, training and consultancy across all sectors, particularly in work with children and families. Joyce developed a model of support for parental engagement in the early years, and has since consolidated and built on the work of this successful national project, PEAL (Parents, Early Years and Learning).
