Reviews

The story-telling is mesmerising, and the illustrations constantly reveal new details hidden in the images.
*Bookrapt*

This is a book that will stop you in your tracks.
*Oh Creative Day*

The gentle thoughtfulness of this book brought tears to my eyes. A very special book to be treasured by those with family who have served in our military or peacekeeping forces, or those who appreciate and respect the sacrifice of our servicemen and women.
*Kids' Book Review*

Rebecka Sharpe Shelberg has chosen her words carefully for young readers. Robin Cowcher, the illustrator has done a superb job with the illustrations – pen drawings with a watercolour wash. They are simple but compliment the story beautifully.
*Booksellers NZ*

Author and illustrator have created a series of evocative words and images which blend and merge seamlessly in double page spreads, linking and connecting the elements of the Anzac Day ceremonies with the experience of soldiers in active service.
*Reading Time*

Reflection: Remembering Those Who Serve In War, is aimed at readers aged five and above. But I believe that the power in the words and illustrations will also resonate the sounds of the Last Post in the hearts of adults. This book is a solemn reminder of the devastating physical and emotional loss of war. Indeed, Reflection is a powerful tribute to those who have served their country.
*Creative Kids Tales*

I love this book: the juxtapositioning, the simplicity of the telling and the exquisite pen, ink and watercolour illustrations on sepia coloured matt paper.
*Otago Daily Times*

Reflection: Remembering Those Who Serve In War is not only a perfect picture book, it’s an educational tool that will be around for a long time to come. It is the perfect book to add to a child’s growing library, and a fantastic resource for teachers and parents alike to explain who the ANZACs are and what wars Australia has been involved in.
*The Never Ending Bookshelf*

‘Reflection’ is a succinctly worded, beautifully illustrated collection of memories and remembrances.
*Aussie Reviews*

Reflection: Remembering those who serve in war explains to young people why we stop to remember. It is elegantly published by Walker Books Australia
*4MBS Radio*

*Janet Croft Reviews*

This is an exceptional book in every way.
*Buzzwords*

This book adds to the range of books available to remind students about war and its cost, of the many wars Australia has been involved in and the way we remember. And the beautiful water colour wash illustrations reflect this theme to perfection.
