This series is one of the most mature YA series I've read so far,
and one that deserves to be huge where the urban fantasy crown is
concerned. It has fallen angels fighting with Katanas, demons ready
to rip your throat out and a cast of characters so layered and
realistic it's like they're standing right in front of you. It's
quite possibly my favourite of all the urban fantasy/paranormal
series out there; I honestly can't think of anything that could
better it (excluding Twilight, of course, 'cos I still have a
special love for that book), and I don't say things like that
lightly! Read it!
*WONDROUS READS*
Where I had loved SHADOWS and HAZE, I found myself to to be
obsessed with SHIMMER. I read the book in three days; it was
definitely the right kind of summer read that kept you turning the
pages, and wanting the story to last forever.
*DELIGHTFUL BOOK REVIEWS*
Weston doesn't disappoint in this latest installment of her
excellent Rephaim series. Shimmer may lack the sizzling romantic
tension with Rafa imprisoned for a good chunk of the book, but
delivers on incredible action set pieces, high tension political
stand-offs between the different factions within the Rephaim, and
develops the interesting morality and mythology of the Angels.
*THE BOOK BAG*
This series has all of my favourite things - gloriously
entertaining romance, heart-stopping action, clever and interesting
plot - all skilfully tied together with barrels of tension and
emotion. It's angels without the accompanying drone of
been-there-done-that paranormal fiction.
