Thomas McAfee was professor of English at the University of Missouri-Columbia before his death in 1982. He was educated at the University of Missouri-Columbia and the Kenyon School of English. His work appeared in Esquire, Epoch, Prairie Schooner, and elsewhere, including numerous anthologies. He was the author of ten books, including The Body and the Body's Guest, Rover Youngblood: a Novel, I'll Be Home Late Tonight, and Whatever Isn't Glory. He received a writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
