About the Author

Ahmed Essop was born in India in 1931 and emigrated to South Africa as a child. He was educated at the Indian High School and at the University of South Africa and taught at various schools in Johannesburg. During the 1970s Essop opposed the authoritarian apartheid education system. In 1986 he left the teaching profession to devote himself to fulltime writing. The Third Prophecy is Essop's third novel.
