Dr Alex Boraine was elected to Parliament for the Progressive Party in 1974 but resigned in 1986 and, together with Frederik van zyl Slabbert, founded IDASA. Boraine was one of the main architects of South Africas Truth and Reconciliation Commission and, in 1995, was appointed as its deputy chair. In 2001 Boraine co-founded the International Center for Transitional Justice. He is the author of two previous books. A Country Unmasked and A Life in Transition.
