I will admit from the start I had no understanding or sympathy for no. 5. I smelled her scent about a year ago, and foolishly it was from a sample card, not human skin. Unsurprisingly I was not at all impressed. The initial blast was searing, shooting straight up into the nostrils. After a while it just smelled like butter that had gone a bit mouldy. I couldn’t understand all the hullaballoo. This the lifeblood of Chanel itself? Surely I must be smelling the wrong perfume!
