When a tussle with a sonic time scan leads the TARDIS back to Earth, the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) and Leele discover strange happenings in a laboratory run by the secretive Dr Fendelman. By night an eight million year old skull glows with devastating power. Already two people lie dead in mysterious circumstances. The Doctor is appalled. Can the Fendahl, a creature from his childhood fantasies, really be emerging from its 12 million year hibernation? This 4-part story from Season 15 was originally broadcast in the UK in 1977.

Reviews

3 of 5 Stars! – Customer review on 26/11/2009

This is a pretty hokey Tom Baker story, in which the Doctor has to defeat an ancient alien menace that apparently embodies death itself but looks a bit like a sock puppet. The idea that it's been influencing human affairs for millenia even down to the characters' surnames is a bit daft too. Still, Tom Baker fans will forgive anything, and the DVD has some nice extras including the real rarity for a 70s story of deleted scenes.
