Christmas episode of the ITV costume drama. It's 1919, and preparations for a lavish Christmas party at Downton Abbey are under way. The general atmosphere, however, is tense, as Bates (Brendan Coyle)'s arrest threatens to mar proceedings. Meanwhile, Mary (Michelle Dockery) is forced to reconsider her future with Sir Richard Carlisle (Iain Glen) after an incident at the shooting party, while Cora, Countess of Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern), makes a shocking discovery.

I was so disappointed as I assumed this was a special Christmas Downton not an extract from the series we'd seen. It was a present for my sister who loves Downton and we'd eagerly awaited it, so we were disappointed.
