Archival Document Repair Tape
What does it do.
If you have rips & tears in pages, documents or maps or you want to re-insert & reattach loose book pages back into the book with minimal fuss & skill then this is for you!
How does it work.
This is a self-adhesive, lightweight (20gsm) transparent paper made with acid-free materials & a neutral pH adhesive. The sticky side is backed with removable paper to make application simple. Remove the backing paper to reveal the tape. Apply it to the area you want to mend, smooth with a bone folder to remove any air-bubbles & flatten the tear.
The tape will be sent packed flat; it may take a little time to locate and remove the first bit of tape from the backing paper as it's extremely thin but we promise you, it's definitely there!
If done carefully you can create an almost invisible repair. On glossy paper the tape is slightly visible but less so on matte papers.
Why is this the best product to mend my book/document.
This acid-free tape is used worldwide by book repair specialists in libraries & museums. Unlike normal tapes (like sellotape) it won't go yellow/brittle & fall off. It's very easy to apply. Side effects of using acidic products are that the acids can seep into the material you're trying to mend & cause irreversible damage. It is a much friendlier & longer lasting product than standard adhesive tapes. You should NEVER use normal sticky tape for repairs on paper.
Each pack holds a FIVE metre length. The tape can be easily trimmed to the correct length using scissors.
