Product Description:

The #132 Moroccan Burnoose pattern by Folkwear was a style worn year-round by the Men of the Maghreb (Western North Africa from Tunisia to Morocco). They are traditionally made of black, brown, or white camel hair woven into rough homespun or the finest broadcloth. The Burnoose would lend protection from the mountain winds and desert sun. Worn by Berber tribesmen over loose tunics and pants and by urban executives in Casablanca over business suits and ties, it offers endless possibilities for wrapping and draping (and even for stashing one's belongings in the hood like a backpack. Pattern Details: Folkwear Pattern #132 (Not finished garments) One Size fits all Pattern for cloak in two lengths Sewing Instructions Authentic detailing Moroccan Burnoose Pattern Details: Featuring the drama of a half-circle sweep, the shoulder area falls on the bias and the Burnoose moulds itself smoothly to the upper arms. A permanent centre front closure holds the garment in place just below the throat. The edges can be finished with a variety of trims. The ample rectangular hood is attractive worn up on the head close to the face (for mystery) or casually flung back (for dash). A long tassel at the peak of the hood is essential to add weight and to provide the perfect visual accent. The Burnoose is a striking wrap for women and men in shorter daytime length or traditional ankle-length. You'll find it takes on a variety of moods, depending on fabric choice; use a coarse tweedy wool for a sporty look, or an elegant brushed wool (try camel hair!) for evening excitement.
