"Our job as parents is not to save our girls, but to teach them to save themselves. Self-esteem is not given, it's earned. Adolescents need skills to help them transition into healthy, confident women. 12 Going on 29 offers insights into the real life struggles girls face and teaches practical skills they will need to feel capable for a lifetime." -- Susan Fee Licensed Professional Counselor and Founder of Circle of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. "Silvana's book will inspire mothers to enjoy their daughter's tween years. Her book gives practical ideas on how to develop a lasting and positive mother-daughter relationship through open communication and light-hearted fun. So grab your daughter, make some root beer floats and start doing some of the great activities suggested in 12 Going on 29." -- Dr. Keith Olson, Marriage and Family therapist author of the Gold Medallion book, Counseling Teenagers

Silvana Clark, a motivational speaker, author, and mother of three,
teams with her 17-year-old daughter Sondra Clark (an author in her
own right with eight books to her credit) to give often humorous
but always practical advice on surviving the ages nine to 12, when
girls are testing new feelings, behaviors, and parents' patience.
They share insights gleaned from interviews with 100
mother-daughter pairs to show what preteen girls think and need,
how mothers can help their daughters avoid the minefields of these
years, and how to keep a respectful and loving mother-daughter
relationship intact. They give suggestions for mother-daughter
activities and example scripts for discussing friendship, peer
