Reviews

Aerofilms is an astonishing black-and-white history of our fair isle from above ... it captures astounding architecture, awesome natural wonders and even the brutal imprint of war.
Emily Phillips, www.shortlist.com

‘These pictures, of Britain from above, are a knockout.’

'Clinging to tiny biplanes flying dangerously low, the pioneering band of former First World War pilots turned photographers were pushing new technology to the limit with dramatic results.’
Daily Mail (Scotland)
*Daily Mail (Scotland)*

This book tells the story of much of 20th century Britain in stunning aerial photographs. The scale and detail of rapid social, architectural and industrial changes are shown through pictures of cities, towns, coastal areas, industrial scenes and breathtaking landscapes.
Christy Lawrence, Journal of the Islington Archaeology & History Society

The selected images - from St Paul's Cathedral, its Baroque majesty captured as never before, to the South Bank in 1950, still a building site - are everything you'd expect: exciting, nostalgic and informative ... Many of the pictures can now be seen online via the dedicated website britainfromabove.org.uk - but I'd recommend reading the book too, for it really makes for a great story.
Jack Watkins, OPTIMAMAGAZINE

This wonderfully written book starts with a broad insight into the world of early aviation. It tells the history of Aerofilms in an interesting and exciting way, illustrated by some rare and previously unseen photographs of Britain from above.
Silvia Faggion, Architectural Technology
