About the Author

ADAM GORDON SACHS is a mental health counselor in Charleston, South Carolina. He holds a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from the Pastoral Counseling program at Loyola University-Maryland. While at Loyola, he worked in counseling internships with low-income populations in inner-city Baltimore and suburban Washington, and with people with addictions. He transitioned to counseling after working as a public relations director for health care, social services and education organizations. Previous to PR, he worked as a journalist, including as a sports reporter for the Sarasota (FL) Herald-Tribune and news reporter for the Baltimore Sun. He has run twice for political office in Maryland at the county and state levels. He holds a master's degree in journalism from Boston University and a bachelor's degree in international relations/history from Colgate University. He is the author of two other books, the novel Three Yards and a Plate of Mullet, based on his experiences as a rookie sportswriter in Florida, and the nonfiction Don't Knock, He's Dead: A Longshot Candidate Gets Schooled in the Unseemly Underbelly of American Campaign Politics, based on his experiences as a Maryland state political candidate.
