Praise for Brian Freeman
"[Stride] is in the company of Bosch, Thorne, Tennison, and
Skinner, some of my other favorite detectives time has not
mellowed."--Minneapolis Star Tribune
"[Alter Ego] finds the Minnesota detective caught up in
investigations past and present . . . Showcases Freeman's great
talent for juggling multiple plotlines. They fit together with his
rich characters like finely honed gears, producing an intriguing
and timely tale."
--Rebecca Vnuk, Booklist
"A taut, exciting story that will keep fans reading long past
bedtime . . . Freeman evokes Minnesota in January so realistically
that readers may require a sweater in June. The only downside to
Freeman's Jonathan Stride novels is that there are not enough of
them."
--D.R. Meredith, New York Journal of Books
"Another winner from an author who, ten years later, just keeps
getting better and just keeps mastering and perfecting the art of
the psychological thriller."--Duluth News Tribune, on Goodbye to
the Dead
"Brian Freeman's latest explores the cult of celebrity and the
sociopaths that it sometimes shelters . . . A practically perfect
summer read."
--Carole E. Barrowman, Star Tribune
"Excellent . . . Finds Duluth, Minn., police lieutenant [Jonathan
Stride] revisiting difficult memories when a movie based on a
serial killer case that left Stride emotionally scarred begins
filming in Duluth . . . A cleverly constructed, page-turning plot
and fleshed-out primary and secondary characters make this a
winner."--Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)
"Freeman has a very powerful writing style . . . A must-read!"--
Jennifer Wirthwein, The Missourian
"If you're looking for a full docket, Freeman pays off in
spades."--Kirkus Reviews
"Like another well-loved Twin cities detective, Lucas Davenport,
Jonathan Stride and his world is a place I want to be in as much as
possible."--Great Mysteries and Thrillers
"Terrific . . . A thriller of the highest order that pits fame
against infamy, the past against the present, and truth against
lies. Alter Ego will linger long after the story has ended, and I
guarantee it will make you look at your favorite movie stars in a
different light."
-- Ray Palen, bookreporter
"This incredible author is perfect when giving clarity to both past
and present. If there is a way to say 'higher' than 'highly
recommended, ' I wish I knew it. Because this is one of those
thrillers that go above and beyond."--Suspense Magazine, on Goodbye
to the Dead
"This is Freeman's ninth Jonathan Stride thriller and he
demonstrates that he can still knock them out of the park with
nonstop surprises and ramped-up suspense . . . This is a multi-plot
effort that will have readers frantically turning the pages."
--South Marion Citizen
