This selected and annotated bibliography reflects the growing interest among scholars in anarchist thinkers and thought. This guide to primarily English sources is fully annotated and covers works by and about major anarchist thinkers, philosophers, and others who are important or are on the margins of anarchist theory.
PAUL NURSEY-BRAY is a Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He is the editor of Aspects of Africa's Identity (1973) and has contributed articles to Current Affairs Bulletin, Arena, African Affairs, Australian Left Review, and the Journal of the Historical Society of South Australia.
?A search through the literature of anarchism indicates the absence
of another bibliography on the subject that can compare with this
splendid work. The scope, completeness, attention to detail, and
insightful annotations reflect the compiler's superb research
skills. The bibliography is organized for efficient use with a
major section on works by and about anarchist philosophers and
thinkers. Other sections are titled "On the Margins of Anarchist
Theory" and "On the Margins of Liberal Theory." "The Anarchist
Experience" treats historical movements that have taken place in 18
countries. Shorter chapters on theses and on contemporary and
historical anarchist journals add significantly to the range of
presentations. Evident throughout the work is a balance between
anarchist movements and the theory behind them. Nursey-Bray
succeeds in allowing users of this bibliography to identify the
literature that "focuses on the nature and development of anarchism
as a tradition of political thought." Recommended for general and
academic libraries.?-Choice
