"Accessible, authoritative, and theoretically informed, Applied
Photovoice in Criminal Justice is a much-needed, practical guide to
this increasingly important research technique. Drawing on material
from across a range of projects, the text is enlivened with
examples demonstrating the critical potential of the method. It is
a must buy for students and scholars alike."Eamonn Carrabine,
Professor of Sociology, University Of Essex"Visual literacy has
become as important a research skill as analysing interviews and
interpreting statistics. Wendy Fitzgibbon not only explains how to
understand images in criminal justice, but equips the reader with
new skills and, using international examples, demonstrates how
those without ‘voice’ can co-produce new knowledge through
Photovoice." Anne Worrall, Emerita Professor of Criminology, Keele
University"Participant Action Research by visual means is finally
being passionately advocated within criminology. Wendy Fitzgibbon`s
newest book is a compelling, informative and internationally
concerned guide to a cutting-edge research approach. It is
necessary reading for anyone interested in doing research within
public and visual criminology."Bettina Paul, Senior Researcher in
Criminological Social Research at the Universität Hamburg"Building
on the author’s pioneering work in criminological research, this
book provides an exploration and overview of Photovoice as a
participatory research approach. In the context of an increased
emphasis on the importance of co-production within the criminal
justice system and in allied fields, this book by Wendy Fitzgibbon
provides a timely and important contribution." Nicola Carr,
Associate Professor in Criminology, University of Nottingham
