Tardi is a pioneering, internationally award-winning European cartoonist. His Adele Blanc-Sec series was adapted into a feature by Luc Besson, and the animated film April and the Extraordinary World was inspired by his cartooning. He lives in Paris with his wife, the singer Dominique Grange, and their cats.
A wickedly sly take on classic turn-of-the-century pulp adventures
that nevertheless manages to both tweak and evoke those stories. It

comics readers are better off for having Tardi available here in
the States.--Michael C. Lorah "Newsarama"
The "ice-punk" story, which nods to Jules Verne and his
19th-century forward-thinking compatriots, starts out more like
Brian Selznick's The Invention of Hugo Cabret -- short on text,
long on pretty pictures and old-timey atmosphere -- but gradually
moves toward mental.--Hillary Brown "Paste"
