About the Author

Joseph W. Polisi became the sixth president of the Juilliard School in September 1984. Previously, he was the dean of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, the dean of faculty at the Manhattan School of Music, and executive officer of the Yale University School of Music.
