About the Author

Edward Kessler is founding director of the Cambridge Centre for Jewish-Christian Relations. He has also written An English Jew: The Life and Writings of Claude Montefiore, and has co-edited two books on Jewish-Christian Relations, Jews and Christians in Conversation: Crossing Cultures and Generations and Themes in Jewish-Christian Relations. Kessler is a leading thinker on contemporary Judaism and Jewish-Christian relations and writes for the Independent and the Irish Times as well as the Tablet, the Church Times and the Jewish Chronicle. Rabbi David J. Goldberg is Rabbi Emeritus of the Liberal Jewish Synagogue. His numerous writings include The Jewish People: Their History and Their Religion (co-authored with John Rayner, London: Viking-Penguin, 1987), and To the Promised Land: A History of Zionist Thought from its Origins to the Modern State of Israel (London, Penguin 1996).
