Druid Oghamaix’s golden sickle is essential for picking the herbs that make the magic potion magic. So when the druid’s sickle snaps in two, he can’t brew the potion that keeps the village is safe. Oghamaix simply must have a new golden sickle, and the only sickles that are any good are made by Bragairtarraix in far away Lutetia. Asterix and Obelix pack their bags and head to the city to buy a sickle from Bragairtarraix – but the sickle-smith has vanished from the face of the earth. The gallant Gauls go searching for him and come across a gang of sickle smugglers in the Lutetian underworld – a gang with a very influential friend who keeps them from being brought to justice…
