Gr 3-6-William Dufris's narration makes a good story a great listen. The Attack of the Two-Inch Teacher by Bruce Coville (Minstrel, 1999) is a sequel to I Was a Sixth Grade Alien (July 2000, p. 54). Here, alien Pleskit and human friend Tim get in major trouble when the trick they devise to stop the teasing of Jordan Lynch backfires and, instead of shrinking Jordan, they shrink Tim and their teacher. Reduced in size (but not weight) to a few inches, the two witness a hostile takeover of the classroom and must plot a way to save the class. The story is action filled and suspenseful with many humorous asides (such as the various bodily sounds Pleskit and the other aliens make to express emotions). It should appeal to middle grade boys in particular, but most listeners will enjoy the story. The narration alternates between Pleskit and Tim, and Dufris skillfully gives distinct voices to them which helps listeners follow the story. His ability to make just the right sounds for various alien names and nouns makes the recording a hoot. While this is a sequel, it is not necessary to have heard or read the first book to enjoy this one.-Louise L. Sherman, formerly Anna C.
