Fred is a popular inspirational speaker for student audiences. He is a decorated veteran Army officer who narrowly escaped friendly fire. He has trained thousands of soldiers in such disciplines as leadership, rifle marksmanship, combat warfare skills, and physical combative training, also known as the Army's version of mixed martial arts. He is also an outdoor enthusiast, fly fisherman, and backpacker who's come so close to a bear that it was able to sniff the back of his head. Fred is an educator, a two-time bestselling author, and an expert in the field of leadership. He has over 20 years of experience teaching students how to identify their gifts, build character, overcome any limitations, and recognize their personal and professional call to leadership. Fred credits the lessons of military leadership as the foundation of his success, both in and out of the military. These are the same leadership lessons he teaches in B.A.S.I.C. After serving in the military, Fred went on to complete his master's degree in marketing, and later in education. He worked to build a new business unit for a Fortune 25 company, developed workforce needs for adults with mental disabilities, and has been a middle and high school educator.
