About the Author

Tanya Sugarman was an elementary school drama teacher in the Evanston, Illinois public schools for thirty-five years. She has been an artist for her entire life. As a drama teacher, artist, mom, and grandmother she understands the transformative power of art and story. Tanya created this book, The Barry Tree, to honor the life of her brother and to help herself and others love, grieve and heal after a profound loss.
