Dietrich has been writing since sixth grade, when he ground-out a one hundred page handwritten story about two talking lizards battling hairy eight-armed apes. He won second place and honorable mention with two entries in a statewide writing contest in High School, which allowed him to coast in English class for the rest of the year and still get an "A." A Philosophy degree, a black belt, work, fatherhood, and Law School ground down his dreams of Authorhood for many years until a brush with death forced him to get off his posterior and finish writing Beneath the Surface Tension. In addition to writing, Dietrich is a father of three, husband of one, a practicing attorney, volunteers as a certified Mantracker in Washington State's Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue, and enjoys the occasional bourbon.
