About the Author

James Lowen is an experienced naturalist and author whose previous books include 100 Days Wild (Bradt) and, for Bloomsbury, RSPB books on Hedgehogs and Badgers. Carlos Bocos Gonzalez is one of Spain's top bird photographers, and one of the lead photographers on Helm's forthcoming defiinitive work, Handbook of Western Palearctic Birds.

It packs an awful lot into a small space, with remarkably detailed (and very good) species accounts alongside clear, crisp photography that always succeeds in getting over the most vital ID information. A really useful book to have around when you don’t want to lug a full field guide along with you, and a pleasure to browse as well.
