About the Author

Deepal Warakadoda is Sri Lanka's leading ornithologist. A tour leader, photographer and conservationist, Deepal made his name with his stunning 2002 discovery of the Serendib Scops Owl in Sri Lanka's Sinharaja Forest. He has since written several guides to Sri Lanka's wildlife for Bloomsbury.

Richard Grimmett and Carol and Tim Inskipp are leading experts on the birds of southern Asia. Following many years of research and conservation work, they co-wrote Birds of the Indian Subcontinent (Helm, 1998). This book led to the subsequent publication of several highly acclaimed field guides relating to the birds of the region.
