The Poet Don Herzberg was born in California, raised in Texas, and
moved around for years before finding home in Vermont. He practiced
medicine in both academic and private practice settings until
retiring in 2008. He received an MFA in 2004 from New England
College's Poetry Writing degree program, which was headed by Gerald
Stern and Chard DeNiord. He has published poems in various
magazines and was a finalist in Comstock Review's 2009 poetry
contest.
The Artist After retiring from two decades of research and teaching
in biomedical sciences, V. Shalvah Herzberg began taking art
classes and mentoring with local artists. Her preferred media are
watercolor and printmaking which she has used to create both
representational and abstract art. Over the past 25 years she has
maintained an enduring interest in portrayal of the human figure.
She is an artist member of Two Rivers Printmaking Studio in White
River Junction VT and a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor
Society.
The Collaboration Don and Shalvah have been married over 50 years,
and for the last 35 years they have lived in Vermont. They
previously published a book of poems and images based on the wooded
setting of their home in rural Vermont.
