Nigel Brown has been involved with the British gun trade, especially the London trade, for many years. For 13 years, until 1991, he was legal advisor to, and subsequently Secretary of, the Gun Trade Association. From 1973 to 1983 he was legal advisor to what is now the British Shooting Sports Council. In addition, he sat on the legal and education team of WAGBI, now the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC). He trained as a lawyer and has specialised in firearms and related law. He edited the most recent edition of the late Gough Thomas's book Shotguns and Cartridges for Game and Clays. Over the years, he has written a number of legal and trade-related articles for the sporting press in the UK. He is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gunmakers. He is married and lives in Hampshire.
