DVD of two 40-minute yoga sequences specially developed for people without the range of movement necessary for mat work
Edeltraud Rohnfeld qualified as a yoga teacher at the Berlin Yoga Institute Asha Rekai in 1991. She taught private yoga classes in Berlin for 15 years and trained yoga teachers and healthcare professionals. She later specialised in chair yoga, learning from its founder Erika Hammerstroem. Edeltraud moved to Ireland in 2008 where she runs seminars on chair and classic yoga. Her website can be viewed at www.yoga-clare.com and her Chair Yoga book was published by Singing Dragon in 2011.
Rohnfeld is an excellent teacher via the written word and via the
demonstrations on her DVD […] Used together, [the book and DVD]
provide an ideal introduction to a very low-stress, low-intensity
form of yoga. It truly is an excellent form of exercise for anyone
who has limited opportunities to exercise, because of either health
or mobility problems, or because of constraints of time or space.
For sedentary people who feel unable to tackle vigorous exercise,
Chair Yoga can provide an enjoyable, doable – and beneficial –
entry into regular activity.
*The Human Ecologist, from a review of the DVD and book*
Chair Yoga […] will be a boon to our aging population who are often
worried about starting yoga in case they are too stiff to keep up
with the rest of the class. […] I am going to recommend it to all
my pupils with mobility problems.
*Barbara Currie, yoga expert and creator of numerous yoga DVDs and
books, from a review of the book*
The clearly explained, gentle chair exercises promote strength and
flexibility, and open the benefits of yoga to all. Chair Yoga keeps
muscles strong, joints flexible, minds alert, and improves
balance.
