About the Author

David Stark trained as an architect at the University of Strathclyde and subsequently worked in a number of practices in London and Glasgow before spending seven years at Cumbernauld Development Corporation in the 1980s. Since 1993 he has been managing director of Keppie Design (previously SBT Keppie). Keppie projects have taken him all over Britain and Ireland, and as far afield as Malaysia, the Middle East, South Africa and the United States. He is an associate of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, for whom he was the author of Quality Indicators in the Design of Schools, and has lectured on subjects relating to architectural practice and the modern construction industry.
