Commissioned to write his first book in 2003, a 512-page volume on the history of US military vehicles, since that time over 100 of his books have been published. While most of these concern historic military hardware, including aircraft and warships, his volumes on military vehicles, meticulously researched by David and his wife Denise, remain the genre for which he is most recognized. This recognition reached its pinnacle in June 2015, when he was presented the coveted Bart Vanderveen Award by the Military Vehicle Preservation Association, given in recognition of "...the individual who has contributed the most to the historic preservation of military vehicles worldwide."
makes for a fascinating study of how, when wartime requirements
dictate, technology can move forward so rapidly and an interesting
comparison with the same firm's very near contemporary, the
Catalina.

Overall David Doyle’s Consolidated B-36 is a fabulous work
capturing this important aircraft’s development and service. The
book is filled with beautiful and clear black and white photographs
with a good number of colour shots and illustrations. A must for
any student of the Cold War, I highly recommend this stunning
glossy from an author whose visual history subjects continue to
raise the bar.
