About the Author

Jackie Kay was born in Scotland and now lives in Manchester. Her books include the poetry collection The Adoption Papers (1991) and the novel Trumpet (1988), which was awarded the Guardian Fiction Prize and shortlisted for the International Impac Dublin Literary Award. She is also the author of Wish I Was Here (2006), winner of the British Book Awards Decibel Writer of the Year, and the memoir Red Dust Road (2010). In 2006, she was awarded an MBE for services to literature. Kachi A. Ozumba is a Nigerian-born novelist and short-story writer. He won the Arts Council England's Decibel Penguin Prize in 2006 and the Commonwealth Short Story Prize (Africa region) in 2009. His debut novel, The Shadow of a Smile (2009), was shortlisted for the Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize for a distinguished work of fiction, non-fiction or poetry. He lives in Newcastle.
