About the Author

Amy Eilert founded Cupcake Envy in 2006, just one year after relocating from New Jersey to Wake Forest, North Carolina. From the very beginning, Cupcake Envy made a big splash. Eilert and her cakes have been featured in local and national media outlets such as DailyCandy.com, Skirt Magazine, Brides Magazine and the Ugly Betty show. In 2009, Eilert began hosting weekly classes for students eager to learn new, accessible techniques in cupcake and mini cake design. She travels throughout the U.S. and Canada teaching classes and judging national cake competitions including That Takes The Cake Sugar Art and Cake Competition and Cakelove 2011. Eilert is also a certified instructor at CakeCentral.com.

"This book features what she lovingly calls "cakelets". They are NOT cupcakes. They are precious mini cakes that you create, often as you learn to do carving. For many newer decorators, carving into a cake is a frightening experience...they just can't see the design within the sheet cake. Amy makes it easy." -SugarZen blog
"[...] works of art."-Skirt.com blog
"Baby cakes for grown-up tastes."-The News & Observer

"I think the title of the book I'm reviewing today, Cupcake Envy, must be a play on words. Before I opened it I thought it meant everyone would be envious of the cute cupcakes the reader would make from it. After reading, I realized it actually seemed to mean that ordinary cupcakes would envy the amazing mini cakes found within the pages. This book is eye candy, pure and simple, but doesn't stop there." -Crafty Staci blog
"These unique cakelets will also be a great way to expand your cake decorating skills and learn a few new cake decorating skills along the way." -Cookstr.com
