Reviews

"Smith has a talent for really bringing his subject matter to life. Webster, 'the consummate orator of the Nineteenth Century,' is there to behold (and almost converse with) throughout the narrative and critical analysis.... [Smith] constructs a compelling historical narrative by weaving together masterful rhetorical analyses of many of Webster's splendid oratorical performances."-Michael J. Hyde; "This is a first-rate book. There is no other work of which I am aware that offers such a comprehensive treatment of Webster from a rhetorical point of view."-Martin J. Medhurst"
