'It's been years since there's been a thriller debut as original as this one ... humorous, self-deprecating, smart and sometimes lyrical ... a gripping, deliciously offbeat novel' Publishers Weekly. 'It's a great idea. And it's easy to see why this debut novel has gone down a storm ... the whole thing is stylish, polished and very readable' Mirror. Audio mystery fans have a real treat in store in this excellent offering. The superb reading by Nick Landrum adds to some hair-raisingly horrible scenes detailing serial killer Dexter Morgan's quirky psyche as well as his careful selection and excruciatingly artful dissection of his victims. There's a lot of macabre humor throughout, from Dexter's cover as a "blood splatter" crime scene analyst for the Miami-Dade Police Department and his working relationships with fellow forensic technicians, homicide detectives, and cops, including his sister Deb, to the use of a professional hockey goalie's net as a depository for neatly wrapped, bloodless body parts. Those who listen to audiobooks while they drive can expect some "driveway moments" from this one: riveting and not for listening in traffic. Graphic violence, graphic language, and a glimpse into the psyche of a rather charming psycho-who could ask for anything more? Very highly recommended for adult collections.-Cliff Glaviano, Bowling Green State Univ. Libs., OH Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
