Promotional Information

Crusty dragon Miss Drake and her young human, precocious Winnie, discover the bonds of magic and friendship in a refreshing whimsical debut collaboration by award winning author Joanne Ryder and two-time Newbery Honor author and Wilder awardee, Laurence Yep.

About the Author

Laurence Yep is a two-time Newbery Honor winner, a recipient of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and a nominee for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. He is the author of over sixty books, including the bestselling Isabelle American Girl of the Year titles. Joanne Ryder has published over seventy books and received numerous awards for her nature writing and poetry. This is her first book starring a dragon and her first collaboration with Laurence Yep, who has many dragon books to his credit.

Laurence Yep has written often about dragons, and every story has turned out different from his original plans because the dragons have taken him where they wanted to go rather than where he wanted to. This time, he's glad to be sharing the flight with his wife, Joanne. Laurence is a two-time Newbery Honor winner, a recipient of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and a nominee for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. He is the author of more than 60 books, including the Isabelle American Girl titles. When Joanne Ryder was ten, she loved reading stories about both fantastical creatures and real animals, so she decided to write her own. Since then, she has published over 70 books and received numerous awards for her nature writing and poetry. This is her first book starring a dragon, written especially for imaginative readers like herself.
