About the Author

Professor David Currow MPH, FRACP is Chair of the Department of Palliative and Supportive services, Flinders University; Director of Southern Adelaide Palliative Services, Daw Park; and Director of the International Institute of Palliative and Supportive Studies, Adelaide, Australia. Dr Katherine Clark MB BS MMed (pain management) FRACP FAChPM, Senior Staff Specialist, Department of Palliative Care, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown; Clinical Senior
Lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney, Sydney Australia. Katherine Clark graduated from Sydney University in 1994. Further medical education since then has included successful completion of a
master's degree in pain management in 2004. In 2001, she was admitted to the Royal Australasian College of Physician and the Chapter of Palliative Medicine. In 2005, she was made a clinical senior lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine, Sydney University. At present, she is a senior staff specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, in the Department of Palliative Care.
