Nil Tekgül is an Instructor in the Department of History at Bilkent University, Turkey, where she teaches Ottoman History. She previously held a position as a post-doctoral visiting research scholar at Harvard University, USA.
Emotions in the Ottoman Empire offers one of the first
monograph-length studies of emotions in the early modern Ottoman
world, opening up their conceptual frameworks for feeling and how
emotions were encountered in social and political relationships. It
is a must read for the global history of emotions.
