About the Author

Anthony De Vere Phillips is retired Senior Lecturer in History, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados. His publications include Politics in Barbados, 1880-1914, Modernizing Barbados, 1880-1914 and (with Edward Kamau Brathwaite) The People Who Came, Book 3. Co-published with the Barbados Museum and Historical Society. Sehon S. Goodridge (1937-2007) held posts as Anglican Chaplain, University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica; Principal, Codrington College, Barbados; Warden/ Student Counsellor, University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados; and Principal, Simon of Cyrene Theological Institute, London, England. His ended his career as Bishop of the Windward Islands.
