Additional marketing will include bookseller outreach, wholesaler and trade advertising, conference display, and academic direct mail marketing. Our publicity efforts will focus on off-the-book-page features in both general and Asian American publications as well as debut coverage in trade and general media publications. Mura has appeared in the Bill Moyers Language of Life series on PBS and has written for USA Weekend, The New York Times, Mother Jones, and other prominent publications, which will help us secure major media attention. 3. Together with Alexs Pate, Mura created the performance piece, Secret Colors, an exploration of the relationships between African and Asian American men, that was adapted as Slowly This, a film broadcast on PBS. A print interview between Pate and Mura has been commissioned for our press kits and web site. 4. The author's tour will closely relate to the settings of the book (the Uptown area of Chicago, the San Francisco Bay area, Las Vegas and Heart Mountain, Wyoming) and will include a number of appearances in high schools, Asian American centers, and Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) chapters. 5.
